Hands-on tested by professional chefs
At Kitchenware Authority, we don't just "try" products. We put them through a standardized battery of tests designed to simulate months of heavy home use in a matter of days.
Our Phase Testing
Phase 1: Out-of-the-Box Performance
How intuitive is the setup? Are the instructions clear? For knives, we test the razor-sharpness immediately upon unboxing using a standard BESS tester.
Phase 2: Stress Testing
- Stand Mixers: We make three consecutive batches of high-hydration sourdough to check for motor overheating and "walking."
- Blenders: We blend fibrous kale smoothies and dry-grind popcorn kernels into cornmeal.
- Knives: We perform 1,000 cuts of carrots and butternut squash to test edge retention.
Phase 3: Cleanability and Ergonomics
If a product is a nightmare to clean, it won't be used. We score every piece of gear on how easy it is to maintain and how comfortable it feels after an hour of continuous use.
Scoring
Every product is scored on a 100-point scale across five categories: Performance, Build Quality, Ease of Use, Maintenance, and Value. Only products that score 85 or higher receive our "Chef Recommended" badge.
